ABOUT ME
I'm Lisa, an experienced vocal coach living here in Seaford!
I have been professionally singing, teaching, performing, writing and recording for 14 years.
I began my journey studying vocals at Brighton Institute of Modern Music before starting a singing tuition company in 2011
Over the past 14 years, I have taught many students on a 1-2-1 basis, as well as groups and classes in various theatre schools. I also appeared as a panel judge on Sky's Open Mic UK.
My own professional music career consists mostly of session singing and songwriting, working for many years as a professional lyricist, top line writer and session singer for multiple production music companies. I have also worked as a live performer, often performing at corporate events and weddings.
I love teaching and helping students explore and develop their voices, having fun and giggles along the way!
What TO EXPECT FROM THE LESSONS
Lessons are tailored to each individual.
Our voices are like instruments and my aim is to give you an in depth understanding of how your instrument works so that you can learn how to sing with comfort and control. Whether you are a professional singer looking to tweak your technique or you just want to sound great when you sing in the shower, I am here to help you!
Lessons are both educational and fun! Singing is good for the soul and we all have different musical preferences. That is why in my lessons, you sing to quality backing tracks, using your musical interests as a guide. I suggest useful songs that are in keeping with your music preferences. Some different songs may be worked though to achieve specific goals.
Singing in front of someone can be daunting.
My aim with lessons has always been to create a friendly, welcoming environment where you feel relaxed and comfortable.
Some areas we may cover include:
Breathing Techniques
You will learn how to breath correctly to help with vocal stamina.
Vocal Placement
You will learn about the different places that your voice resonates and how to use those effectively.
Tuning
If needed, you will learn how to develop your ear to hear when you may be singing a note flat or sharp and learn how to tune it correctly.
Understanding & Controlling Register Changes
You will learn how to recognise, control and move between the different vocal registers that make up your vocal range.
Harmonising
If you would like help with harmonising I can help you to train your ear to hear and carry out harmonies with confidence.
Microphone , Recording & Performing Technique
If you are looking to become a performing or recording artist, I can help you navigate that, with helpful techniques for both live situations and studio sessions.
Projection & Control
You will learn how to use your diaphragm to support and project your voice.
Vocal Tone
If you would like, we can explore the different tones of voice available to you and learn when and how to use them.
Confidence & Dealing With Stage Fright
I can help you build your confidence and give you the tools you need to help manage and reduce the anxiety related to singing in front of people.

Why 50 minute lessons? In my experience, 50 minutes is the perfect amount of time for a singing lesson. It allows us to have a relaxed finish to the lesson and a little recap time without the need to rush you out the door for the next student!
30 minutes are great for children, who's attention span might not be long enough for the full 50 minutes. However, if you would like your child to have the full 50 minute lesson, that is absolutely fine!

Lessons are in a studio in Newhaven Enterprise Centre. There is plenty of parking available in the car park and a comfortable seated waiting area in the building.
